WRVSU Alternative Classroom

The alternative classroom setting offers opportunities for personalized individual and
small group instruction in core content areas while enhancing social and emotional
awareness. These classrooms are designed to assist students needing additional
practice and focused instruction to successfully manage daily academic and social
opportunities within their school community.

WRVSU Alternative Classrooms offers the following opportunities for student growth:

Elementary Grades 3-5:
● Direct academic instruction by highly qualified teachers
● Direct instruction in social skill development and self-regulation
● Opportunity to engage with a licensed clinician and behavior specialist
● Students will have opportunities to participate in grade-level essentials and
outdoor education programming

Middle School Grades 6-8:
● Direct academic instruction by highly qualified teachers
● Direct instruction in social skill development and self-regulation
● The use of flexible pathways to explore interests and high school readiness
● Opportunity to engage with a licensed clinician and behavior specialist
● Voice and ownership in creation of individual program and goal setting
● Students will have opportunities to participate in grade-level essentials and
outdoor education programming

High School Grades 9-12:
● A personalized learning classroom with courses and activities tailored to the
individual needs of students
● Flexible pathways that meet proficiency-based graduation requirements.
● Opportunities to participate in outdoor adventure activities for meeting global
citizenship and science graduation requirements.
● Interventions and support to close student achievement gaps.
● Opportunities to engage with a licensed clinician and behavior specialist
● Enrollment flexibility to include full-time or part-time based on student voice and
choice
● Participation in all campus activities/events whenever possible.
